On February 25, 2016, 47-year-old Irvin DeWayne Mayes was fatally shot at his residence on Thomas Drive in Oakman, Alabama. The incident occurred during a domestic altercation involving Mayes, his wife Cynthia Mayes, and two other individuals present at the home. During the confrontation, Cynthia Mayes retrieved a firearm and shot her husband, resulting in his death.
