On August 9, 2008, Dre'Von Douglas Proctor, a 15-year-old resident of Washington, D.C., was shot and killed at approximately 1:35 am at the intersection of Southern Avenue and Chesapeake Street SE. Responding to reports of gunshots, members of the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) arrived on the scene and found Proctor suffering from a fatal gunshot wound.
