In the early hours of a Wednesday morning, the life of a dedicated Metro station manager was abruptly cut short in a senseless act of violence. Eugene Francis Neal Sr., a 52-year-old man, was shot and killed near his home in Northeast Washington, D.C., on March 25, 2009. A native of the city, Neal was a father and a respected employee of the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority, where he had worked since 2002.
