On February 9, 2016, Jamar Morris, age 28, was shot and killed in the Unit block of M Street NW, Washington, D.C. The incident occurred around 8:39 pm. Officers from the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) responded to reports of gunfire and found Morris with life-threatening injuries. Despite being transported to a local hospital, Morris succumbed to his injuries shortly thereafter.
