On July 12, 2017, a tragic incident unfolded in Gardendale, Alabama, resulting in the deaths of three individuals, including 69-year-old Don Austin Foshee. The assailant, Kenneth Lever, ambushed his ex-wife, Dana Lever, her sister, Bonnie Foshee, and Bonnie's husband, Don Foshee, at a residence in the Peachtree Crossings community. Lever had concealed himself in a shed on the property and attacked the victims as they were preparing to leave for a family event.
