On May 2, 2019, 42-year-old Andrew Wade "Andy" Kimbrel, a dedicated police officer with the Vestavia Hills Police Department in Alabama, was fatally shot in his Gardendale apartment. The incident occurred during a domestic dispute with his wife, Stephanie Nicole Keller. Authorities responded to a 911 call just before 11 p.m. and found Kimbrel suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to UAB Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries in the early hours of May 3.
