In the early morning hours of August 22, 2017, a dispute over money in Perdido, Alabama, tragically escalated, leading to the death of 25-year-old Christopher Michael Allen. Allen, who resided in both Perdido and Atmore, had gone to a residence on Dallas Hadley Lane to confront Justin Bryan Still, then 31 years old, about unpaid wages for a construction job.
The confrontation took a dire turn when Still refused to pay.
In an apparent act of frustration, Allen used a pair of bolt cutters to sever the power to the residence where Still was staying with another man and a woman. In response to this, Still armed himself with a handgun and pursued Allen as he fled. Still fired several shots, one of which struck Allen in the upper torso. Despite being wounded, Allen managed to run and crawl approximately 50 to 100 yards to a fenceline along Hoyle Bryers Road before succumbing to his injuries from blood loss.
Law enforcement from the Baldwin County Sheriff's Office arrived at the scene around 7:45 a.m. and discovered Allen's body. Their investigation quickly led them to Justin Bryan Still, who was taken into custody a short distance away on Hoyle Bryars Road. Still, who also had ties to both Atmore and a mobile home in Perdido, was charged with murder.
Ultimately, Justin Bryan Still negotiated a plea deal for the murder of Christopher Michael Allen. In September 2019, at the age of 33, Still was sentenced to life in prison for his role in the fatal shooting.
