On January 16, 2022, 24-year-old Cody Taylor was fatally shot at his residence in Perdido, Alabama. The Baldwin County Sheriff's Office responded to the 53000 block of Cemetery Road, where they discovered Taylor deceased from a gunshot wound. The following morning, 23-year-old Ethan Branum and a female companion entered the lobby of the Baldwin County Corrections Center, reporting that a homicide had occurred in Perdido.
