On the evening of September 25, 2017, 42-year-old white male Kevin Charles Jones was fatally shot during a confrontation at his residence on Sunset Trail in Boaz, Alabama. The incident occurred around 6:39 p.m., prompting a swift response from multiple law enforcement agencies, including the Etowah County Sheriff's Office, Boaz Police Department, and other local authorities. Jones was transported to a Birmingham hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries hours later.
