Kendrick Stokes, a 30-year-old man from Shorter, Alabama, was fatally shot on November 18, 2017, in a tragic incident that drew attention to issues of gun violence in the area. The shooting occurred in the late evening hours when the Shorter Police Department responded to reports of a shooting at a residence in the small town. Upon arrival, officers found Stokes with multiple gunshot wounds. Despite being rushed to a local hospital, he was pronounced dead from his injuries shortly afterward.
