On February 4, 2018, Shaquille Johnson, a 20-year-old African American male from Montgomery, Alabama, was fatally shot in the 1800 block of Winona Avenue. Emergency responders arrived around 8:36 a.m. to find Johnson suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. His death was classified as a homicide and marked the fifth murder in Montgomery that year.
