On May 8, 2018, 66-year-old Johnny Michael Foster was found dead in his Cordova, Alabama, home. His brother-in-law, 57-year-old Danny Elmus Perrin, was arrested and charged with Foster's murder. The two men were neighbors in the Pea Ridge community and had a history of disputes. Prior to the incident, Perrin had been arrested on April 16 for making a terrorist threat against Foster and was released on May 3 under the condition that he have no contact with him.
