In the early morning hours, a sense of unease settled over a home in Cordova, Alabama, culminating in the death of 47-year-old Johnny Karris. On May 1, 2023, officers with the Gardendale Police Department arrived at Karris's residence to execute a narcotics search warrant. The situation escalated quickly, and the encounter left Karris, a father, fatally wounded in the presence of his mother, wife, and 9-year-old son.
