On June 2, 2018, Luman Williams, a 29-year-old Black male from Evergreen, Alabama, was found shot to death alongside 28-year-old Cortez Antonio “Tony” Dees on Dilly Hill Road in the Garland community of Butler County. The discovery was made after a passerby noticed the two lifeless bodies off a dirt road and alerted authorities. Around the same time, a 2018 dark gray Nissan Altima, later identified as belonging to one of the victims, was found on fire near the Georgiana I-65 exit.
