On June 2, 2018, the bodies of 28-year-old Cortez Antonio "Tony" Dees and 25-year-old Luman Williams, both from Evergreen, Alabama, were discovered along Dilly Hill Road in the Garland community of Butler County. The Butler County Sheriff's Office received a call around 3:50 p.m. from a passerby who had found the two men deceased in a wooded area. Both victims had been shot to death.
