A simmering domestic dispute in Ardmore, Alabama, erupted into a tragic triple homicide on July 1, 2018, claiming the life of 59-year-old Timothy Hayward-Boger. The violent outburst was the culmination of a bitter custody battle and lingering animosity following a divorce.
The perpetrator, 43-year-old Darwin Brazier, targeted his ex-wife, 41-year-old Debra Ann Rivera, her new husband, 41-year-old Radex Rivera, and their roommate, Timothy Hayward-Boger. Armed with a high-powered SKS rifle, Brazier descended on the Pinedale Road home the three shared and fired approximately 30 rounds, leaving all three victims deceased on the back porch. The motive for this horrific act was rooted in what authorities described as a 'bad marriage and a bad custody battle' between Brazier and Debra Rivera. Debra had previously sought protection from Brazier, citing stalking, harassment, and verbal abuse, but her requests for a protection order had been denied by the court.
Following the murders, Brazier sent a text message to a woman, confessing to the killings of his ex-wife, her husband, and a man named Tim, and stating his intention to take his own life. This message triggered a swift law enforcement response and a manhunt for Brazier. His vehicle was discovered abandoned on Macedonia Road in Madison County, an area where he had previously resided.
The search for Darwin Brazier concluded later that evening at his own home on Cook Road in Madison County. As a SWAT team and other law enforcement officers confronted him, Brazier died by a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
