In the quiet community of Ardmore, Alabama, a tragic story of domestic violence culminated in the untimely death of Radex Rivera. A 41-year-old male, Radex Rivera was killed on Sunday, July 1, 2018, in a triple homicide that also claimed the lives of his wife of four months, Debra Ann Rivera, 41, and their roommate, Timothy James Hayward-Boger. The couple was found on the back porch of their Pinedale Road home.
The perpetrator was identified as 43-year-old Darwin Brazier, Debra Rivera's ex-husband. Armed with a high-powered SKS rifle, Brazier fired approximately 30 rounds, fatally wounding the three victims. The Limestone County Sheriff's Office was alerted to the unfolding tragedy when a woman reported receiving a text message from Brazier in which he confessed to the killings and stated his intention to take his own life. This initiated a multi-agency manhunt involving the Limestone and Madison County Sheriff's Offices.
The search for Brazier concluded when he was located near his own residence on Cook Road in Madison County. As law enforcement officers confronted him, Brazier died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Investigators later revealed a long and troubled history of domestic violence between Brazier and his ex-wife, Debra. She had twice sought protection-from-abuse orders against him, citing stalking, harassment, and threats of violence. In her court filings, she expressed fear for her and her new husband's safety, stating that Brazier was angered by her remarriage. Despite her pleas, her requests for the orders were denied. The motive for the murders was attributed to ongoing disputes over their previous marriage and child custody.
