On that day, November 24th, 52-year-old Christopher Goulart, a male resident, lost his life in a fatal shooting. The events that unfolded would reveal a familial connection to the violence that cut his life short.
The investigation into the death of Christopher Goulart quickly led to a suspect, his own brother, Tomas Michael Goulart. In the aftermath of the shooting that killed his younger brother, Tomas Goulart also engaged in a confrontation with law enforcement, firing a rifle multiple times at a Daleville police sergeant who had responded to the scene. This act added another serious charge to the accusations against him.
Tomas Michael Goulart was taken into custody and faced charges for the murder of his brother and the attempted murder of a police officer. Following his arrest, he was held in the Dale County Jail. In a courtroom on March 28, 2022, Tomas Michael Goulart was sentenced to serve 45 years in prison for the killing of his brother, Christopher.
