In the spring of 2019, the quiet community of Stockton, Alabama, was disturbed by a grim discovery. On the evening of April 29th, the body of 30-year-old Skyler Williams was found near the Major's Creek Bridge. An initial investigation by the Baldwin County Sheriff's Office revealed that Williams had been the victim of a homicide, having sustained multiple gunshot wounds.
As detectives began to piece together the events leading to his death, a narrative of violence and a hasty attempt to conceal a crime began to unfold.
The investigation quickly led authorities away from the quiet, rural location where the body was found to a house in the bustling Daphne/Spanish Fort area, some distance away. It was here, investigators believe, that the fatal confrontation occurred. Evidence gathered at the scene suggested a gunfight had taken place. A female witness, who was with Williams at the time of the shooting, came forward, telling investigators that she was also targeted but managed to escape the scene unharmed. Her testimony would prove crucial in the hours and days to come.
Within a day of the discovery of Williams' body, the Baldwin County Major Crimes Unit had a primary suspect in custody: 31-year-old Kendrick Kentrell Patrick of Spanish Fort. Investigators believe the motive for the shooting was drug-related. Patrick was subsequently charged with murder for the death of Skyler Williams. In addition to the murder charge, he also faced charges of attempted murder related to the female witness who escaped, and a charge of discharging a firearm into an occupied vehicle. Following his arrest, Patrick was booked into the Baldwin County Corrections Facility.
