In the early hours of a Sunday morning in Washington, D.C., a promising young life was tragically cut short. Michael Manuel Moss-Cornish, a 22-year-old Black man known to his friends and loved ones as 'Tino,' was killed on October 3, 2010. The incident occurred in the 600 block of Harvard Street, Northwest, where he and another individual were discovered with gunshot wounds.
Emergency services responded to reports of gunfire and transported both victims to a local hospital. While the second individual was treated for their injuries and subsequently released, Moss-Cornish succumbed to his wounds and was pronounced dead. At the time of his death, he was living in Silver Spring, Maryland, and was remembered as a bright and talented young man.
Originally from Fruitland, Maryland, Moss-Cornish was a 2006 graduate of James M. Bennett High School, where he had been a member of the school's soccer team.
He was fluent in both Spanish and Portuguese, skills he utilized in his work as an interpreter and a waiter at Austin Grill. According to his mother, he was leaving a party near Howard University when the fatal shooting occurred.
Despite the passage of time, the case of Michael Manuel Moss-Cornish's death remains unsolved. Law enforcement officials have not publicly identified any suspects in connection with the shooting, and no arrests have been made.
