On January 18, 2020, 30-year-old Brandon Jamar Zeigler, a resident of Millbrook, Alabama, and formerly of Montgomery, was fatally shot at the Uptown Bar and Grill located in the 2800 block of Vaughn Plaza Drive in Montgomery. The incident occurred following a verbal altercation between Zeigler and 41-year-old Jeffery Keshon Sanders. After being asked to leave the establishment, Sanders retrieved a firearm from his vehicle, returned to the bar, and shot the unarmed Zeigler.
