On the evening of October 23, 2020, the Lee County Sheriff's Department responded to reports of gunfire in the 8000 block of US Highway 29 North in Beulah, Alabama. Upon arrival around 8:30 PM, deputies and emergency medical services discovered the body of 47-year-old William Schwarz, a resident of Valley, Alabama. Initial assessments indicated that Schwarz had sustained gunshot wounds and other injuries.
