On December 29, 2019, the body of 72-year-old James Edmund Clarke was discovered in a well on the property of Hubert Timothy Sprayberry in Beulah, Alabama. Clarke had been reported missing on December 19, 2019, after not being seen for approximately three weeks. His remains were found bound to cinder blocks at the bottom of a 25-foot well, with evidence of three gunshot wounds to the head and 22 stab wounds to the back.
