On March 7, 2021, at approximately 11:58 PM, officers from the Lanett Police Department responded to a reported shooting in the 3300 block of 16th Avenue SW in Lanett, Alabama. Upon arrival, they discovered Johnny K. Barnes, a 45-year-old resident of Valley, Alabama, with a gunshot wound to the chest. Tragically, Mr. Barnes was pronounced dead at the scene. Another individual at the location sustained a gunshot wound to the foot.
