In the late hours of a Sunday night in Lanett, Alabama, the life of Johnny K. Barnes, a 45-year-old male, was tragically cut short. On March 7, 2021, at approximately 11:58 PM, officers from the Lanett Police Department were dispatched to the 3300 block of 16th Avenue SW following reports of a shooting.
Upon their arrival, they discovered Mr. Barnes with a fatal gunshot wound to the chest. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Another individual at the location had sustained a gunshot wound to the foot. The investigation into the shooting was immediately launched by the Lanett Police Department.
In the days following the incident, law enforcement officials continued to seek information from the public to help piece together the events of that night.
