On a Saturday in June of 2012, at approximately 9:02 pm, a grim discovery was made in the 1200 block of Trenton Place, SE in Washington, D.C. Antwan Lamont Petty was found, having been shot and killed. The Metropolitan Police Department is actively investigating the case and has asked for the public's help in gathering any information related to this tragic event. As of now, the investigation into the death of the adult male remains ongoing.
In a separate and unrelated case from September 2016, a two-month-old infant boy, Antoine Flemons Petty Jr., died under horrific circumstances. The tragic story began to unfold when concerned family members reported the infant and his mother, Geneice Petty, missing. This report prompted an investigation that would soon reveal a dark secret.
The investigation led authorities to the boy's father, 32-year-old Antoine Petty. During questioning, he confessed to the brutal killing of his own son.
According to his admission, he had become agitated by the infant's crying. In an attempt to silence him, he took the baby onto the balcony of their Greenbelt apartment and punched him repeatedly. When the crying persisted, he brought the infant back inside and continued the assault until the baby was bleeding from his nose and mouth and became unresponsive.
Following the infant's death, Antoine and Geneice Petty did not seek help. Instead, they placed their son's body in their car, a black hearse, where he remained for over 24 hours. The next day, the parents drove to the rear of Parkdale High School in Riverdale, Maryland, where they buried the child in a shallow grave. The infant's body remained hidden for nearly a month before he was reported missing and the investigation began. Following their confessions, the parents led investigators to the location where they had buried their son.
Antoine Petty was arrested and charged with first and second-degree murder, as well as other related charges. He ultimately pleaded guilty to first-degree child abuse resulting in death and was sentenced to 40 years in prison. Geneice Petty, the infant's mother, was charged as an accessory after the fact and later pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter.
