On September 18, 2022, 32-year-old Donquis Jamar Brewer of Florence, Alabama, was fatally shot in Colbert County. The incident occurred around 2 a.m. in the parking lot of Stars Nightclub in Leighton, following an argument between Brewer and 34-year-old Marcus Reshard Andrews of Muscle Shoals. Both men exchanged gunfire, resulting in Brewer sustaining a fatal gunshot wound to the head.
