On a Saturday evening, March 15, 2014, tragedy struck in the 4500 block of East Capitol Street, SE in Washington, D.C. At approximately 6:06 pm, Kevin Marzell Leonard, a 20-year-old Black male, was shot and killed near the Benning Road Metro station. Emergency responders found Leonard suffering from gunshot wounds, and he was transported to a local hospital where he ultimately succumbed to his injuries.
