In the early hours of March 21, 2023, the life of 33-year-old Ana Gilmore was tragically cut short in Montgomery, Alabama. A White female, Gilmore was fatally shot around 5:11 AM in the 2400 block of Eastern Boulevard, near the Extended Stay America hotel. When first responders arrived at the scene, they found her deceased.

Originally from Crawford, Alabama, Ana was born in Columbus, Georgia, on August 3, 1989. She was a graduate of Smiths Station High School, where she had been a member of the softball team. For fifteen years, she built a career in ophthalmology and was employed at ITEC in Montgomery at the time of her death. Described as having an infectious personality, she was pursuing a nursing degree after completing coursework at Southern Union. She found joy in deep-sea fishing, hunting, and cherished the time spent with her nieces and nephews.

The Montgomery Police Department quickly launched a homicide investigation into Gilmore's death. Their efforts led to the identification of a suspect, and on April 6, 2023, the United States Marshals Task Force arrested 44-year-old Travis Pressley. Pressley, also from Montgomery, was subsequently charged with murder in connection with Ana Gilmore's shooting. He was then placed in the Montgomery County Detention Facility.
