In the quiet community of New Market, Alabama, a tragic event unfolded on April 13, 2023, shattering the peace of a spring afternoon. On that day, 31-year-old Charlie Walker, a White/Caucasian male, was fatally shot at a residence on Rose Valley Drive. The violence of the incident also claimed the life of 64-year-old Ann Ferrell, who was found deceased at the same location.
The Madison County Sheriff's Office received a 911 call reporting the shooting at approximately 12:20 p.m.
and promptly dispatched deputies to the scene. Upon their arrival, they discovered the bodies of Walker and Ferrell, both having succumbed to gunshot wounds. The investigation into the double homicide quickly pointed to a juvenile family member as the perpetrator.
Following the shootings, the young suspect fled the residence, taking one of the victim's vehicles in an attempt to escape. Law enforcement officers spotted the car in the vicinity and initiated a pursuit when the juvenile refused to stop. The chase was short-lived, as deputies were able to apprehend the individual without further incident.
The juvenile was taken into custody and subsequently charged with two counts of murder for the deaths of Charlie Walker and Ann Ferrell, as well as one count of attempted murder. After the arrest, the suspect was transported to the Neaves Davis Center for Children.
