In Atmore, Alabama, the life of 38-year-old Tara Ann Bryan, a female, was tragically cut short in a wave of violence that unfolded at a local motel. On the evening of May 17, 2023, law enforcement officers were dispatched to the Southland Motel on East Louisville Avenue, where they discovered Bryan inside one of the rooms, suffering from critical gunshot wounds. Emergency medical services promptly airlifted her to a nearby trauma center in a desperate attempt to save her life.
Despite the efforts of medical professionals, she succumbed to her injuries five days later, on May 22, 2023.
The investigation into the shooting quickly pointed to a suspect, leading authorities to issue a statewide alert. The man identified by police was Luis Trevizo Becerra. His time on the run was brief, as troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency apprehended him along Interstate 65, near the town of Evergreen. Following Bryan's death, the charges against Becerra were upgraded to murder. He was subsequently booked into the Escambia County Detention Center, where he was held without bond.
