On a summer evening in Semmes, Alabama, the life of a 23-year-old Caucasian woman, Honesty Holloway Wilkerson, was tragically cut short on August 11, 2023. What began as a dispute on social media escalated into a violent confrontation that would leave one sister dead and another wounded. The conflict had been brewing online between Honesty and 22-year-old Curtellius Denise Tapaingea James, though the specific nature of their argument remained unclear to witnesses.
The situation took a
grim turn when James, accompanied by two witnesses, returned to a residence on Ponderosa Drive South to find her belongings thrown in the yard. Her vehicle had been vandalized, with keyed paint and four flat tires. It was at this volatile scene that Honesty and her 14-year-old sister, Germany Holloway-Wilkerson, arrived, and a verbal argument with James ensued. The heated exchange quickly spiraled out of control.
In a sudden act of violence, James allegedly armed herself with a shotgun and fired, striking Honesty in the chest. As Germany fled in terror, James reportedly pursued her and shot her in the right thigh. When Semmes police officers arrived, they discovered Honesty's body and found her injured younger sister at a neighbor's house down the street. Honesty Shacole Holloway-Wilkerson was pronounced dead at the scene.
Law enforcement quickly took Curtellius Denise Tapaingea James into custody, and the Mobile County Sheriff's Office took over the investigation. James was subsequently charged with one count of murder for the death of Honesty and one count of attempted murder for the shooting of her sister, Germany. She was booked into the Mobile Metro Jail.
