On June 30, 2024, 22-year-old Black male Asa Jones was fatally shot in Prichard, Alabama, a city adjacent to Mobile. The incident occurred around 6:00 p.m. at 200 Meaher Street, following a verbal altercation between two individuals that escalated into gunfire. Jones was among those struck and succumbed to his injuries at the scene. This shooting was the first of two homicides that evening, with a second fatal shooting occurring just hours later and blocks away.
