In the early evening of June 30, 2024, a verbal dispute on Meaher Street in Prichard, Alabama, a city neighboring Mobile, tragically escalated into gunfire. Twenty-two-year-old Asa Jones, a Black male from Mobile, was caught in the violence and sustained fatal injuries at the scene. The shooting, which occurred around 6:00 p.m., was the first of two homicides to take place in the area that same evening, separated by only a few hours and blocks.
