In the early morning hours of Saturday, August 15, 2015, the life of Lawrence Alonzo Carter, a 27-year-old Black man, was tragically cut short in Northwest, D.C. At approximately 1:05 a.m., officers from the Metropolitan Police Department responded to the 1500 block of 1st Street, NW after reports of gunshots. Upon arrival, they discovered Mr. Carter suffering from at least one gunshot wound to his torso.
Emergency medical personnel were dispatched to the scene, but tragically, Mr.
Carter succumbed to his injuries. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner later confirmed his death was a homicide. The Metropolitan Police Department's Homicide Branch launched an intensive investigation into the fatal shooting.
Despite their efforts, authorities have not publicly identified any suspects or made any arrests in connection with the murder of Lawrence Alonzo Carter. The case remains an open and active investigation. The Metropolitan Police Department has offered a reward of up to $25,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for his death and continues to appeal to the public for any information that may help them solve this crime.
