In the early morning hours of Saturday, August 15, 2015, the life of Lawrence Alonzo Carter, a 27-year-old Black man, was tragically cut short in Northwest, D.C. At approximately 1:05 a.m., officers from the Metropolitan Police Department responded to the 1500 block of 1st Street, NW after reports of gunshots. Upon arrival, they discovered Mr. Carter suffering from at least one gunshot wound to his torso.
