Death by Force

In the spring of 2016, a burst of violence in Southeast Washington, D.C. claimed the life of 22-year-old Tayvon Devonte Cummings, a male resident of the city. On the afternoon of Monday, May 16, Cummings was in an alley in the 4800 block of Texas Avenue SE when gunfire erupted. Police responded to the scene at approximately 12:55 p.m. to find Cummings suffering from gunshot wounds. Despite the arrival of emergency medical personnel, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
