Athabaskan Alaska Native. Fred Burk, a 30-year-old male from Manley Hot Springs, Alaska, vanished on May 17, 1984, after joining neighbors at the Tanana River boat landing outside the tiny end-of-the-road community. By evening, none of the group returned, and worry sharpened into alarm as families realized trucks sat abandoned at the river's edge and a routine spring outing had turned into a disappearance with grim undertones.
