On October 26, 1996, in Chugiak, Alaska, a tragic incident of domestic violence resulted in the deaths of 5-year-old Jessica Lynn Ely and her 4-year-old brother, Corey Paul Ely. Their father, Paul Ely Jr., fatally shot both children before taking his own life. The children's mother, Christina Ely, was also shot during the incident but survived her injuries.
