On March 4, 2015, in the small Inupiat Eskimo village of Shungnak, Alaska, seven-year-old Stanley Custer was tragically killed in an accidental shooting. While playing unsupervised with other children inside a home, they discovered a pistol, mistaking it for a toy. The firearm discharged, and a bullet struck Stanley in the head. He was immediately taken to the village clinic but, unfortunately, succumbed to his injuries before he could be transported for further medical care.
