Robin Porter, a 33-year-old white man from Anchorage, Alaska, died after being shot in the early morning of December 21, 2015. Police were called around 12:30 a.m. about shots fired and a vehicle chasing another on West Tudor Road; officers soon found 22-year-old Jeramyha Talauega dead near railroad tracks west of Spenard Builders Supply. Roughly twenty minutes later, Porter arrived at an Anchorage hospital with a gunshot wound and died shortly thereafter.
According to investigators, Porter and his wife, Meghan Porter, 31, had agreed to meet Talauega to sell him drugs. Talauega entered the Porters' vehicle, an altercation erupted inside, and all three fired shots. After Talauega bailed from the car, the Porters drove toward the hospital while a second vehicle briefly pursued them along West Tudor before they eluded it. The Anchorage Police Department later detailed the scene as centered near Lois Drive and West Tudor Road, reconstructing the exchange of gunfire and the brief chase that followed.
Arrests followed quickly. Meghan Pugh, 31, was taken into custody and charged with second-degree murder, manslaughter, and misconduct involving a controlled substance. Police also arrested Linda Chattell, 26, who they said drove Talauega and another man to the meeting, and Solomon Brown Tavita, 23, who was taken into custody on December 23 and charged with two counts of second-degree murder and one count of drug misconduct. Authorities described the killings as stemming from a drug deal gone wrong.
On January 6–7, 2016, a grand jury indicted three defendants for their roles in the late-December double homicide that took the lives of Jeramyha Talauega, 22, and Robin Porter, 33. The case, mapped by police to West Anchorage near West Tudor and Lois, remained a stark account of a transaction that turned violent in minutes and left two men dead before dawn.
