31-year-old male Alaskan Native Timothy Evans was found dead on the morning of August 19, 2023, in Dillingham, Alaska, along with 32-year-old female Jennifer Gardiner. Their bodies were discovered in a residence near Dillingham's airport after a local resident called law enforcement.
Upon arrival, Dillingham Police and Alaska State Troopers determined both Evans and Gardiner had been fatally shot.
A suspect, 31-year-old Joshua Wahl, also from Dillingham, was arrested on August 20, 2023. He has been formally charged with the murders of both Timothy Evans and Jennifer Gardiner. Wahl was later indicted by a superior court; he has pleaded not guilty.
In addition to the murder charges, Wahl is implicated in online activity: investigators say that a weapon matching one found at the crime scene appeared in an image posted on 4chan that was associated with him. Court documents also reference Wahl posting anti-Semitic and anti-law enforcement content.
A pre-trial conference for Joshua Wahl was set for mid-October 2023. Funeral services for both Evans and Gardiner took place in Dillingham following their deaths.
