On February 12, 1992, Officer Anthony Crawford "Flip" Jones of the Dillingham Police Department in Alaska was fatally shot while responding to a burglary alarm at a local hardware store around 12:45 a.m. As he and another officer approached the store, they were met with gunfire from the suspects, resulting in Officer Jones's death. The assailant was subsequently convicted and sentenced to 65 years in prison.
