A tragic series of events on the morning of May 24, 2024, led to the death of 77-year-old Ellarea Dickson in Cullman, Alabama. The incident began when a Hartselle Police Department officer observed a vehicle driving erratically and at a high rate of speed on U.S. Highway 31. The officer attempted to initiate a traffic stop, but the driver, later identified as 39-year-old Michael Ivy of Middleton, Tennessee, refused to comply and fled, initiating a high-speed chase.
