On May 24, 2024, 77-year-old Ellarea C. Dickson of Crane Hill, Alabama, was tragically killed in a vehicular collision resulting from a high-speed police pursuit. The incident began in Hartselle when officers attempted to stop a vehicle driven by 39-year-old Michael Ivy of Middleton, Tennessee, for reckless driving.
