Jesslyn Ann Nicole Hood, 19, died when the Jeep Patriot in which she was a passenger veered off of County County Road 1223 and into a tree about 3 miles north of Cullman. The driver, Austin Edward Turrentine, is alleged to have been under the influence of a controlled substance. He was indicted by a Cullman County grand jury in August 2021 on charges of reckless murder, manslaughter and criminally negligent homicide
