On a tragic evening in St. Clair County, the life of Amber L. Manning Perkins, a 37-year-old Caucasian woman, was cut short. On March 14, 2023, what began as a normal day ended in a senseless act of violence that also claimed the life of 62-year-old Timothy R. Davidson.
Amber and her husband, Shane Manning, were at their home on Ivy Road when they heard what sounded like a gunshot.
Stepping outside, Shane Manning saw a man he recognized, 28-year-old Daniel Parker Watson, walking away from their neighbor Timothy Davidson's home with what appeared to be a gun in his hand. As Watson started to drive away, Amber, in a display of bravery, went to check on their neighbor.
It was in this moment that the situation escalated with devastating speed. Watson stopped his car, and as Amber approached, he fatally shot her. Her husband, who had once considered Watson a friend, was left to witness the horrific event, unable to save her.
The St. Clair County Sheriff's Office quickly took Daniel Parker Watson into custody. He was subsequently booked into the St. Clair County Jail and charged with one count of capital murder and one count of murder with a gun. Law enforcement officials reported that Watson confessed to the killings of both Amber Manning and Timothy Davidson. Further investigations have also linked him as a suspect in two other homicides that occurred in Birmingham.
