On October 16, 2023, at approximately 1:00 a.m., Hueytown Police Department officers responded to reports of gunfire in the 2500 block of 19th Street North. Initial investigations yielded no evidence at the scene. However, at 3:54 a.m., authorities received a call reporting a body in the same vicinity. Upon arrival, officers discovered 21-year-old Romeo Bruce Bankhead, a resident of Bessemer, Alabama, deceased from a gunshot wound.
