In the early evening of February 22, 2022, a verbal altercation in an east Birmingham, Alabama residence escalated into deadly violence, claiming the life of 30-year-old Demetrius John-Mario Young. The fatal encounter occurred at approximately 6:30 p.m. in a home on the 500 block of 83rd Place South.
According to the preliminary investigation conducted by the Birmingham Police Department, Mr. Young was involved in a dispute that tragically ended with gunfire. He sustained a fatal gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene. Another individual was also wounded in the shooting.
In the immediate aftermath of the incident, law enforcement officials announced that they had not taken any suspects into custody. The Birmingham Police Department's Homicide Unit urged anyone with information regarding the shooting to come forward to assist in their ongoing investigation.
There have been no subsequent public announcements regarding any arrests or the identification of any suspects in connection with the death of Demetrius John-Mario Young.
