On August 4, 2022, 41-year-old Tiffiney Nicole Barger of Berry, Alabama, was involved in a fatal head-on collision on U.S. Highway 43 near mile marker 212, approximately 11 miles north of Northport. The accident occurred around 1:08 p.m. when Barger's 2000 Toyota Camry collided with a 2018 Hyundai Elantra driven by 24-year-old Zoe Moore of Northport. Barger was pronounced dead at the scene.
