On the night of March 17, 2022, at approximately 11:00 p.m., Tuscaloosa Police Department officers responded to reports of a shooting at a residence in the 3500 block of McKenzie Avenue. Upon arrival, they discovered 27-year-old Tacara Moton deceased from a gunshot wound. Her boyfriend, 38-year-old Jonathan Lawayne Peebles, was present at the scene and taken into custody by responding officers.
