On January 8, 2022, at approximately 2:15 p.m., the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office responded to a report of a body discovered along Shady Grove Road between Porter Road and Grove Road in Mulga, Alabama. Upon arrival, deputies found 20-year-old John Christopher Taylor-Wilson of Bessemer deceased from apparent gunshot wounds. Initial reports suggested he may have been a pedestrian struck by a vehicle; however, further investigation determined that he had been shot.
