On August 24, 2020, at approximately 1:30 p.m., Birmingham Police officers responded to a shooting at 4170 Messer Airport Highway. Upon arrival, they discovered 43-year-old Eddie Tillman Jackson Jr. suffering from a gunshot wound. Jackson was transported to UAB Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. Another individual, wounded in the same incident, was taken to St. Vincent's East by personal vehicle and sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
