In the quiet town of Midfield, Alabama, a domestic dispute shattered the morning calm and ended in the tragic death of 37-year-old Tomichael M. Sha “Kitty” Alexander. On a Monday morning in early October 2019, Alexander went to a residence in the 1500 block of Carol Circle. The home belonged to Anthony Johnson, her uncle by marriage, and was also where her own children were living.
When Alexander arrived, an argument erupted after she was denied entry to the house. The verbal altercation escalated with devastating speed. Johnson emerged from the home armed with a gun and, in the ensuing confrontation, shot his niece in the front yard. The incident happened shortly before 8 a.m., and when Midfield police responded to reports of a person shot, they found Alexander unresponsive on the ground. She was pronounced dead at the scene at 8:31 a.m.
Authorities quickly took the 48-year-old Johnson into custody at the scene of the shooting. The investigation that followed pointed to the domestic dispute as the catalyst for the fatal event. Johnson was subsequently charged with the murder of his niece, Tomichael Kitty Alexander. He was booked into the Jefferson County Jail to await legal proceedings for the violent act that cut a life short and left a family irrevocably broken.
